Paiste’s story began in 1906 when Estonian musician Toomas Paiste started producing cymbals in Saint Petersburg. After decades of resilience through wars and relocations, the company established its permanent home in Switzerland in 1957 where its modern production process was developed and has essentially remained unchanged to this day.

Paiste’s manufacturing philosophy is simple: only a human being has the intuition and ability to create superior musical instruments. Every professional series cymbal is hand-crafted exclusively, with mechanical devices used sparingly only as aids.
